This workshop will explore how questions of calling, work, and vocation shape the spiritual lives of young professionals. Facilitators will reflect on the tensions young adults experience as they navigate career demands, financial pressures, and discernment about purpose while seeking meaningful connection within the church.
Participants will consider practical ways congregations can support young professionals through intentional community, vocational reflection, and pastoral care. This session will equip attendees to create spaces where work and faith are integrated, helping young adults understand their careers as part of their broader calling and participation in the life of the church.
Skyler Sikes is a senior insurance executive and producer specializing in representations and warranties insurance, with a strong background as a corporate attorney focused on mergers and acquisitions. He previously practiced as a partner advising private equity investors and operating companies on complex M&A transactions, including dozens of deals with an aggregate value exceeding forty-five billion dollars.
Alongside his professional work, Skyler has become increasingly attentive to the pastoral and communal needs of young professionals and young fathers. Through his own experience in demanding professional environments, he has recognized how easily men in these life stages can become disconnected from church and Christian community. Skyler is particularly interested in how churches can more effectively engage young men navigating career pressure, leadership responsibility, marriage, and early parenthood.
A member of Highland Park United Methodist Church, Skyler brings a grounded perspective shaped by vocation, faith, and family life. He lives in Dallas with his wife, Lexie, and their daughters, Mary-Scott and Madeline. His contribution to this conversation is rooted in lived experience and a growing conviction that the church must create intentional space for young professionals and fathers to belong, be formed, and remain engaged in the life of faith.
